Hi, nice to meet you! I’m Marissa, a mixed-media artist based in Columbus, Ohio, creating intimate works inspired by the layers of history, ancestry, and human devotion. Deeply connected to my Northern and Eastern European roots, my art explores these regions' rich pasts, often deconstructing post-colonial and Christianized viewpoints to shed new light on histories that have been marginalized or misunderstood.
I work with watercolor, gouache, colored pencil, and the décollage technique, blending memory and nostalgia to honor the subjects I feel drawn to. Whether I’m creating a narrative painting or designing lighthearted postcards from my travels, my work remains a reflective, heartfelt exploration of sacrifice, connection, and the world around us.
